What Will You Study?

Vocational Options

We want our students to have the best preparation for adulthood. To be healthy, have long term employment, training or volunteering opportunities, to be as independent as possible and to be included in their local community.

We aim to:

  •         Gain vocational qualifications
  •         Improve English and maths
  •        Develop life skills and employability skills by doing independent living activities, volunteering, mentoring and enrichment activities on a weekly basis.

Vocational Options – we have two groups of options. You will choose one option from each group:

Core Subjects:

  • English – Entry Level or GCSE

Q. What will I be doing? – Core

English & maths

All students will work towards English and maths at either Entry Level or GCSE

Q. Why am I doing it?

  • Attainment in Maths and English directly supports the four key pillars of Preparation for Adulthood (PfA):
  • Employment (including education/training)
  • Independent Living
  • Community Inclusion
  • Health.
  • Changes in Further Education (FE) entry requirements often necessitate qualifications, such as four GCSEs, for progression to higher     studies. We want our students to have the best opportunities available to them when they leave Kings College
  • Achieving these qualifications is critical for improving long-term outcomes for employability.
  • These subjects instil essential practical, functional life skills (literacy and numeracy) required to manage daily life, enabling individuals to function more confidently, effectively, and independently as adults.
  • Developing these core competencies is integral to successfully implementing a comprehensive life skills curriculum designed to equip young people for adulthood and foster independence
